“…From the point of ignition
To the final drive
The point of the journey
Is not to arrive
anything can happen…
…From the point of entry —
Until the candle is burned
The point of departure —
Is not to return
anything can happen…”
– “Prime Mover”, Rush, lyrics by Neil Peart
I took on the NoBloPoMo (November Blog Post Month) challenge – a blog post every day for the month of November – simply to see if I could do it. Until today I didn’t know if I could actually 1) write every day and 2) write something every day that I wanted to post. Today, officially, I have learned I can. I have learned more than that, though. I learned I must write every day, through good times and bad, through busy times and quiet, through elation, excitement, self-doubt and exhaustion, I must write.
November is over, but my own journey has just begun. I may not post something here every day, but I will be writing every day, finding stories in each day’s moments, big and small, and putting them into words. It was healthy for me to force myself to post each day bits of writing I didn’t think were perfect, but I look forward to taking more time to edit and rewrite now that the challenge is over. Some of my writing requires research that takes more time, and I am looking forward to doing that, too.
The biggest change is that I am once again looking forward to writing this blog, something that I had lost before I set out on NoBloPoMo.
So, thank you, BlogHer, for offering the challenge, and thank you to those of you who have been reading and encouraging me, old followers and new. It’s been an amazing month. #amwriting
